Wissembourg in Alsace, France! In the north of Alsace, between vineyards and forests, Wissembourg reveals a typical and authentic Alsace with must-see tourist sites. The town boasts over 400 buildings erected since the 11th century, demonstrating its historical and architectural richness. The Abbey Church of Saints Peter and Paul is the second largest Gothic building in Alsace, after Strasbourg Cathedral. It is known for its impressive 11-meter-high fresco of St. Christopher, the most enormous painted human figure in France, as well as its old stained glass windows and 11th-century Romanesque chapel. The Westercamp Museum of local history occupies one of the many half-timbered winegrowers' houses that make the town look so charming. The natural environment of this small town at the foot of the Vosges is also very appealing, with the flowery banks of the River Lauter offering a lovely walk. You can also walk around the fortifications to admire the gardens and flower-adorned houses. After your stroll, be sure to stop by one of the town's charming tearooms. The abbey of Saint-Pierre-et-Paul owns the largest fresco of France. The Eleven meters high Saint Christopher of the fourteenth century, is painted on one of the walls of the transept. How do the residence who live in such a beautiful place feel? When I travel, I don't want to miss even the smallest details. So I'm busy looking around. The speed of pressing the buttons on the camera also increases. But when I look around and find an impressive point, I get quiet without realizing it. And people who can focus on themselves and take good care of themselves will eventually discover that they can give good energy to others as well. The pretty houses across the canal and the bridges in the middle make visitors instinctively recognize that this is a good photo spot, as if in a small Venice. The scenery that filled my mind during the long period of pandemic with shutdown was European open-air cafes. You can see a part of a small canal, and in the distance you can see the terrace pots with geraniums. When I go to touristic places, I like to take pictures of little things. The beautiful colors of ordinary houses, beautiful geraniums blooming on the terrace, buildings where you can see the beautiful clouds in the sky, and unusually shaped mailboxes, these trivial daily routines often give me a lot of inspiration.

ARTogether's Mini-Grants for Artists Are you an artist of refuge or immigrant origin? Or have you ever wanted to do a meaningful project as an artist for people in this situation? There is a non-profit organization set up to answer this question. ARTogether’s monthly Mini-Grants for Bay Area refugee and immigrant artists awards $500 for artists for work on an ongoing art project. Grant funds may be used for artist supplies, equipment, costumes or to pay for editing or other professional work.
ARTogether is based in the Bay Area, the occupied, ancestral lands of the Ohlone people, who have stewarded and honored this landthroughout generations and are still here. We acknowledge the ongoing legacies of violence against indigenous communities and people of color in this country that provide a context for our work. The above is a capture of the main content of the site. An organization called Art Together is particularly noteworthy, finding refugees from Afghanistan and providing them with much-needed art based services. ARTogether’s Afghan Community Wellness Program is a creative new approach to supporting newly-arrived Afghan refugees and parolees in our community. Combining welcoming spaces for connection with wraparound occupational therapy support and art-based activities, the Afghan Community Wellness Program works to provide community connection, essential support, and wellness resources to Afghan communities throughout the East Bay. If you are interested in this organization or are interested in many social issues, such as refugee issues and immigrant fusion issues, you may want to consider the mini-grants provided here. Below is the grant application form. As you can see from the above form, you should introduce the project needed to help the socially underprivileged, such as an immigrant or refugee artist in need, and write in detail the need for this project, the effectiveness of the funding, and whether additional funds are needed in the future.

Watercolor beginners and beyond. Watercolor is a medium for creating fantastical beauty by regulating water. Anyone who enters the world of watercolors will probably be surprised by the inexhaustibility of the world. This is a great gift for anyone, beginner or advanced. If you become familiar with watercolor to some extent, you will be attracted to the medium of watercolor, and you will want to know more and study. And every day can be your challenge. A group of people who love watercolors introduced by the artist, Irene Giannotti is on Facebook. This is a Facebook personal group site where people from around 100 countries, from beginners to advanced, equally introduce their work, share tips, and challenge themselves with one topic every week. The group was founded in 2019 by a Facebook user named Diana. Today, it is an influential group with 133.7 k members. The group's founder, Diana, currently lives in Houston, Texas, and runs the group's website and the group's name. She first started painting because she wanted to take a break from the complicated and negative news of the world. At first, she started with acrylic, but she decided it was not easy, so switched to watercolor. However, in any field, things that seem easy from the outside are actually complicated and difficult to do. Diana did the same. She also found that watercolor had a lot to learn and was difficult to do alone. So she created a group on Facebook and started asking for help. Her pure and sincere call has been answered by masters who have started or painted watercolors all over the world. That's why we are a group today. The peculiarity of this group is that they do a weekly challenge. Give a specific topic, add hashtags, and collect works by setting a deadline like an artist open call. And we randomly select a winner and give it a prize. The group's founder, Diana's office looks like an ordinary family office. But compared to her passion, space seems meaningless. It seems like she already has a huge workspace around the world. Did my painting improve because my workspace improved? No. My painting improved because I painted. And painted. And painted some more. Did having a studio help? Well, it didn’t hurt. I enjoyed having a space that was mine, a space that was not contaminated by work, stress, or chores, where I could just paint. Her site details a variety of helpful techniques, from basic to advanced. I also discover hidden masters through the blog section of my site and introduce their work, philosophy, motivation, and passion for art. And I try to post anything about art here.
I am delighted to discover and introduce the above watercolor group through this work. |
