Theatre Exercise: “Forward, Fast forward and Rewind (Motion player game)”Theatre Exercise: “Forward, Fast forward and Rewind (Motion player game)”
Grade Level: 7th Grade Time: 5- 10 minutes. Objective: Students will use their bodies to perform their own motions as instructed as if they were the audio player. Through this exercise, students will develop their motor skills and sensory memory and creatively develop various types of motions corresponding to them. The teacher introduces the buttons on the player and their comments and demonstrates the example moves in front of the students. An example behavior is: 1.GO & Jump and Forward: The teacher shouts "Go" loudly in front of the students sitting in a circle and takes three steps forward. Then shout "Jump" and look around at the students. After that, it pauses for a while and shows 'Forward'. “Everyone, like an audio player if I shout Forward, GO & Jump Forward. 2 GO & Turn around and Rewind: The teacher again shouts “Go” and takes five brisk steps. Then shout 'rewind'. The teacher demonstrates by explaining to the children that 'rewind' means going back to the first action, like the player. (i.e., turn in the opposite direction and take five steps backward) 3. Jump, Turn, Fast Forward: The teacher jumps once again and spins around from right to left. And shout "fast forward". Then, the teacher jumps and rotates at high speed as a demonstration. Students follow steps 1-3 above according to the teacher's slogan. The teacher then calls the students who will be 'creative players' as volunteers. After one student raises her hand and has her come forward, the teacher asks the student to dance creatively for two minutes. And the teacher shouts 'Rewind'. The student then must remember her creative dance and show it to the other students by rewinding her as instructed by her teacher. Add on: Students can be leaders. They will call the commands and then alternate with a leader who is showing great listening, they don’t hesitate to show the movement, they are silent during the commands, and they keep great equidistant from other actors. Notes: This exercise is designed to develop memory for motion, body control ability, concentration, and speed to respond immediately to other people's instructions, and further expand to 'creative motion player' play to hone theater skills such as creativity. It has been. According to Real -world Theater Education, chapter 3, students with hearing or visual processing impairments may find themselves first cast members already learning how to compensate by developing excellent memory skills. In other words, this play is not only for children in general classes, but also for students with special problems, who can participate as one of the fun games together by using their abilities. Since this play is designed to focus on one's own movement and repeat it from various angles, there is a possibility that students can create a variety of fun and expanded games. For example, students can give commands such as 'Rewind 10 seconds', 'Stop 10 seconds', or make sounds when reversing. And like a video, you can create and dictate normal speed and slow motion. Differentiated Instruction: This play may be difficult if the student is in a wheelchair. In other words, jumping or fast rewinding can lead to an accident if done incorrectly. To this end, the teacher presents modified movements for students in wheelchairs in advance. For example, it is possible to spin in a wheelchair. You can instruct the player to play the game by moving left and right, mainly hand movements. Sufficient space must be left around to allow wheelchair students to perform safely. Assessment: “Forward, Fast forward and Rewind” Checklist: Total 12 Point 1 Students understood the rules of the player motion game and express themselves correctly with their bodies. 2 Students paid attention to the instructions as the teacher demonstrates or explains the rules. 3 Students demonstrated their creative motions and could control the motions according to instructions. Reflection: I read the textbook Real -world Theater Education, chapters 2 and 3, which helped me a lot when planning the Forward, Fast Forward, and Rewind action. Particularly in chapter 2, “Every day, I let children grow, learn something, and feel better about themselves. Letting me out of my room lets me go home and know I've done my job today. “The part reminded me of theatre and how to approach my work. Also, through Chapter 3, I was very impressed by the theatre's role that when children suffer from various things, such as parental divorce, illness, poverty, and bullying, the play allows them to look back and find answers with a comfortable mind without digging into their lives. And this sentence became a hint and gave me an idea for writing this class. In other words, If they are suffering, they will think how nice it would be if they went back to before they suffered. I wanted to make a simple action play that would make these children return to the past or memories they enjoyed with a more pleasant and comfortable mind. And I hope my play, which is very simple but has this meaning, is like in Chapter 3, “Without Digging.” I hope that my plan can solve fundamental problems without digging. When that happens, it's because, as the writer said, theater can be a life-saving anchor in the troubled ocean of being a teenager.
