The charm of watercolor paintingI am deeply immersed in the charm of watercolor painting. Watercolor painting is like sculpting. By creating a waterway on paper, I take the path I want to take, or sometimes take a path that has nothing to do with my intention. The more I painted with watercolors, the more I fell in love with the style and beauty of watercolors. It's such a wonderful thing to be able to create the world I imagine by controlling the amount of water. In particular, watercolor painting does not require you to squeeze out each tube of paint like acrylic or oil painting. So I prefer fan-style watercolor paint. I'm always pressed for time and schedule, but whenever I have a moment, I have to draw, so watercolor painting, which allows me to open it and paint multiple colors right away, fits my lifestyle a lot. Especially I don’t have to worry about it hardening, and I don’t have to worry about odors or toxicity near the children. Above all, watercolor painting allows you to freely express anything as long as you have water. Because it dries relatively quickly, it is good for drawing and understanding the overall outline. More than anything, I love the clear and transparent vibe of watercolor. There is no medium as wonderful as watercolor when it comes to expressing dazzling light and transparent water. It's also good for slowing down your thoughts and refining your drawing, like a sculpture. However, acrylic and oil paintings can be modified by trapping, but watercolor paintings cannot. This is both an advantage and a disadvantage of watercolor. All tasks must be completed at once. However, if I think enough before drawing, all of this becomes possible. So, I think slowly and a lot while I draw. Because of my method, I don't often use masking tape or masking fluid. This is because I believe it diminishes the charm of watercolor painting by emptying and filling it. Usually I used positive and negative space for letting empty. Watercolor painting is like meditation. All you have to do is leave yourself to the tip of the brush and just quietly flow as your thoughts flow, as your mind allows. And you just have to watch. Unlike other mediums that express things exactly as intended, watercolor often encounters unintended coincidences. I think it's like magic. Sometimes misplaced paint creates unexpected spots. But when you look at it later, this too becomes part of the picture. In this respect, watercolor painting is very similar to our lives. I will continue to study watercolor in the future. Actually, my main medium was acrylic. I chose acrylic from my debut and it became my main medium. I wanted to capture the energy within objects. I wanted to draw the energy of objects using the dynamic lines and values created by brush strokes. At this time, acrylic was a good medium that could express the touch of the brush well. But my life became busier and busier, and before I knew it, I realized I didn't even have time to paint. When I didn't have time, I had to draw pictures in my head. Later, I also painted digitally. And when I had time, I picked up watercolor paint. And to this day, I am still working with watercolors. This watercolor painting is truly my magic wand. With these watercolors, I will complete the series of paintings I have planned for this year. I don't know what this trip will bring me. But this will be the journey of my journey. I'm already excited. When I return home after a tiring day, my painting welcomes me. Sometimes I rest in a painting. I will continue to draw pictures that provide rest. I have a deep passion for watercolor painting. It feels like sculpting, as I guide the water across the paper, sometimes intentionally and sometimes unpredictably. The more I paint with watercolors, the more I appreciate their style and beauty. I love the ability to bring my imagination to life by controlling the water.
It's where my creative journey continues, and I look forward to completing my planned series of paintings.
