58. What is one reason colonists came to America? freedom, political liberty, religious freedom, economic opportunity, practice their religion, escape persecution.

61. Why did the colonists fight the British? because of high taxes(taxation without representation), the British army stayed in their houses(boarding, quartering), they didn't have self-government. 
62. Who wrote the Declaration of Independence? Thomas Jefferson. 
Thomas Jefferson wrote the Declaration of Independence. Thomas Jefferson was an important political leader and thinker. He wanted to create a government for the United States that protected individual rights. Thomas Jefferson wrote that the United States was free from Britain.
