Invisible colors! After dinner, I went for a walk with my child. I walked and my child rode a bike. At that time, the child spoke to me. “Mom, take a picture! The sky is so pretty right now!”
The sky was truly so beautiful. My child and I decided to talk about all the colors of the sunset we were currently seeing. Yellow, gold, orange, pale blue, grey, purple, pink... Many colors poured out in an instant. It was a short time, but it was a moment I wanted to share with everyone. I once had an amazing dream. At that time, I was so moved by the white color I saw in my dream that I fully understood the part in the Bible that describes the angel's clothes as "white that cannot be whitened by any washing in the world." The color I saw in my dream at that time was not the white you see in the world, but a surprisingly dazzling and beautiful white. At that moment, even in my dreams, I thought I had to take pictures of these colors and show them to people, so I looked for a digital camera. But I woke up from the dream and the amazing white color I saw then remained only in my memory. From that day on, I wanted to express this emotion through painting. And this became the basic philosophy of my work. Do you know what? There are colors that do not exist in the world. It is a color created by our unconsciousness. Perhaps our subconscious knows more colors. If you look at it that way, how limited is the color that the human eye can see? My daughter and I watched a beautiful sunset and talked about colors, but the colors were limited. And if you take pictures, it becomes even more limited. Perhaps the human eye can see more colors than a photograph. So I don't draw from pictures. This is because we know that the colors that come from human images are more beautiful and numerous. Photography always has limitations. Even after taking pictures of the beautiful scenery, I found that when I looked at the pictures again, I was not as moved by them. My child also said this on the way home. “Mom, let’s go home and draw a sunset.” I think my child also knows the limitations of photography and the power that art gives. I must capture this beauty. And this may not be possible. But I feel like this is my mission as an artist.
