Student artworks by Elbert,11 years oldBelow is a seascape as the sun sets, drawn by 11-year-old student Elbert. Travel introduces children to many colors, perspectives and the beauty of nature. I think travel itself is a great teacher for children. After a five-week trip to Taiwan, Elbert sketched the surrounding environment while carrying a small sketchbook in his spare time. And I found that his skills jumped to an astonishing level. Elbert can now portray landscapes more realistically and sensibly. Above all, he likes to depict architecture and machinery. I look forward to seeing how much more his serious portrayal skills will jump later.

Student's painting about Save the Frogs!Whenever I think of frogs, I think of a family of frogs that help me get an idea of what to draw. More than anything else, I want to protect frogs because there are many endangered species. After I started watching wildlife movies, I started to get a feel for how these animals feel when their homes are destroyed. So I wanted to save our frogs from fear. With this intention, I drew a family of frogs in a pond by the waterfall to show them peace because the sound of the waterfall seems very meditative. I drew this concept on canvas with acrylic and brush pen. The point I'm trying to show in this picture is how peaceful the frogs are and we should be peaceful with them too. In this sense, I want to participate in this contest every year. I think it's a good idea to build one to help animals survive hunting and other threats. If I get a chance, I would like to draw all the animals that need help, such as tigers, snow leopards, sharks, seals, elephants, rhinos, etc. besides frogs. The pond's ecosystem is the field that interests me next to the painting. Biology class is fun for me. The ecology in biology class made me discover the importance of the natural cycle. No basic level of the ecosystem should be lacking or disappearing. This is because it means the extinction of all ecosystems. In that sense, we must protect frogs from extinction. However, as far as I know, frogs are disappearing for many reasons, such as environmental pollution, climate change, industrial development, and people's lack of awareness. I'm afraid the frog's lovely ribbit sound is going away. So, I wanted to participate in this contest to express how lovely and precious frogs are. Introducing it in a funnier form and laughing, I hope we realize the seriousness of this and protect the frog. In that sense, I put a frog in the Mona Lisa and made my own "Froglisa." I hope our precious frogs, like Mona Lisa, can make a happy earth. Most of all, I was impressed by how the frog lays eggs and cares for them, just as a mother takes care of her baby. So, I drew a mother frog that lays and raises eggs and a well-bred son frog. We believe that loving all life is the way to protect nature. I hope frogs worldwide will lay many eggs, grow like tadpoles, reproduce well, and live happily. And I drew this wish with watercolor paint. Thank you for allowing me to express my love for frogs through this contest. When I drew my own big frog through the Save the Frogs contest, I was grateful that I could learn about the frog's skin, movement, and surrounding habitant by describing it. First of all, I found out about the Save the Frogs competition through the Internet. The content emphasized on this site is what I usually think about together. Also, the pictures of past contest winners and contestants featured on the site were very impressive to me. And seeing this, I thought that I would like to participate in the contest, so I prepared a picture. I drew the frog and its surroundings as I imagined them with watercolor paints on a piece of paper that was 14 inches wide and 11 inches long. The frog in my head is an independent animal that jumps and searches for its own food. I drew it larger than the surrounding pond because I wanted to emphasize this strong independent energy. I feel very sad that frogs with such vibrant and strong life energy are going extinct. So I want these frogs not to disappear, but to live as a part of nature and live as vibrantly as in my paintings. In this sense, I want to protect frogs together by continuing to participate in this contest. I think this is also the way to love and protect not only frogs but also the nature around us. I hope my little heart and practice will help protect lovely frogs. drew a small pond where those frogs can live happily. And I painted the background green, which symbolizes nature. Like my brother, I drew with watercolor paints. As I drew this happy frog in the pond, I thought that frogs are part of nature and that I should protect these frogs. I was happy and elated while preparing for this competition. Please let's help our frogs live happily in nature by thinking about and protecting nature more. Devon Rodriguez, who lives and works in New York, paints on the subway. Starting in 2020, he draws a stranger sitting across from him in a New York subway with realistic expressions, delivers it to a model, and records the reaction as a video and uploads it on TikTok. The post got 5 million views and 1000 followers went from 1000, and the second video posted the next day got 21 million views and 200,000 followers in an instant. The reason he debuted through TikTok was the pandemic. When he was isolated due to the pandemic, he recklessly took the subway to go out. And he made a short cut of strangers wearing masks and uploaded it through TikTok. People suffering from disconnection, fear and loneliness due to the pandemic were moved by the pictures conveyed through his video clips. Above all, the small sketch he handed over saying, “Excuse me, I drew you. The picture gets known and the video explodes in views. TikTok Artist Devon RodriguezHere's an interesting post on his Instagram. The portrait on the left was painted in 2010, and the one on the right was painted in 2015, five years later. What does this mean? I like both. However, I can feel his hard work, effort, and unstoppable passion for 5 years. I also love to see his instagram and tiktok reels. Because it gives another pleasure to see people who are happy to see the pictures in it. I think he is an artist who knows the true value and beauty of art. It is touching to see him not being isolated alone with his work, but living in the world by taking it to the streets and communicating with people by subway. I think the message he conveys itself is art. If he kept this mindset and did it with all his heart and not for fame, I think he would be a true artist. But sometimes, as an artist, I worry because these looks are so perfect. We look forward to seeing him continue to work with good intentions and influence. We look forward to seeing more of his wonderful activities in the future. Preparation for 2023 Port Jefferson Fall Art Walk!I went on a late vacation and I feel that summer is slowly passing by. Now the days are quite cool and you can hear crickets all around you. As a painter, I too have to organize summer and prepare for fall. In autumn, many events are held. I selected three works to prepare for one of them, the Port Jefferson Village to Host Fall Art Walk 2023. Below is information about this event. The 2023 Port Jeff Fall Art Walk will run from October 16th to November 1st. More than 20 businesses in Port Jefferson Village will display local artists' original work in their windows. The Greater Port Jefferson Chamber of Commerce organizes the event, with support from the Night Herons, and it features self-guided tours on Main and East Main Streets. I have been participating in this event since last year. I also participated in this event because it is an event supported by the Night Heron Watercolor Artist Group, where I am a guest. In the case of last year, pictures were displayed in a small and beautiful hair salon. And this year, another three paintings will be displayed. Looking at the map below, there are many small and large shops near Port Jefferson Harbor. Using the windows there, artists display and sell their work. This is the fall's flagship art event designed to bring art and commerce together. I will be submitting three of my paintings to this event. Last time, I chose pictures mainly in autumn, but this year, I selected pictures based on the sea and nearby famous tourist spots. After choosing this picture, I really feel autumn. We hope to prepare well and present a good opportunity to see the beautiful works of art to tourists visiting the area. Ivan Aivazovsky's art in < Ivan Aivazovsky - Ship in the Stormy Sea (1887) > is truly astonishingly powerful and engaging. The Russian artist's works masterfully capture the forces of nature and human inferiority and the interplay between the two. In particular, his sea and storm-related works are known to demonstrate his artistic clarity and expression of the inner world. Aivazovsky's works mainly depict ships being swept away in a storm. This is probably a symbol of nature's tremendous power, human helplessness, and fear of danger. However, it is not only serenity or danger in his paintings. Your observations of the roles and proportions of the sea and the sky are very precise, and seem to express the essence of his art. In his work, the sea and the sky harmonize beautifully with each other, and even transcend the roles of ships and humans, giving the feeling that the sea and sky represent the mystery and infinity of nature. In his paintings, the sea and sky often symbolize peak moments and unstable states, which can also represent uncertainty and change in our lives. Ivan Aivazovsky's work evokes our emotions through the beauty and power of nature, perhaps because he appreciates the connection between man and nature and seeks to express that interaction through his art. Through his paintings, we feel the infinite driving force of the sea and sky, and at the same time, we have the opportunity to think about our own existence and our role in it.
