Cherry blossoms Cherry blossoms are the flowers of the cherry tree and are famous for their bright pink or white petals that bloom in spring. The flower language is said to represent the ephemeral nature and beauty of life. It blooms in early April, it is really spring, and covers the trees for a few days before falling off flowers and leaves. The size of a flower is small, about the level of a fingernail, but due to the nature of the flower branches, at least 5-6 flowers are gathered in one place and bloom, giving it a gorgeous appearance. And because there are so many small flowers on one branch, in the case of a cherry tree that has bloomed a lot, from a distance, it looks like a light pink snowflake or popcorns hanging from a branch. If it's not today or tomorrow, it will rain and the temperature will drop, so I hurriedly stopped by the Stony Brook campus where the cherry blossoms were most beautiful, saying that the cherry blossoms would run out next week. Although the trees are short, many flowers bloomed densely on the branches of thick cherry blossoms. In the sunlight, each petal sparkles pink and white. Every time the wind blows, it falls like beautiful pink snowflakes. When you sit in this tree, nature becomes a huge pink tunnel and turns the whole world into pink. When the cherry blossoms fall, the entire ground is dyed pink. When the wind blows, it patterns pink waves in various shapes on the floor. After arriving home and having a quick tea time, I made a digital image of cherry blossoms in spring on my computer.

Spring labor and Mulch season The season of mulch has arrived with the news of spring. Around this time of the year, I often see my neighbors piling up mulch on their driveways, scooping shovels, and working hard on their flower beds. Of course, gardeners and landscapers come and lay them out. But we've been installing mulch ourselves for years. It's hard work, but it doesn't need high level skill. Still, it's very difficult to put together. Experts install the flower bed perfectly and neatly by precisely aligning the line of the flower bed. Mulch is the soil that appears black through the tulips. Mulch is available in black, brown and red colors. Mulch is most commonly made of tree bark, wood chips, pine straw, moss, grass clippings, or leaves. Mulch is used to retain moisture in the soil, suppress weeds, keep the soil cool, prevent frost heaving in winter, and make the garden bed look more attractive. Organic mulches also help improve the soil's structure, drainage, and nutrient-holding capacity as they decompose. We didn't know about this important mulch when we first came to the US to start gardening. I finally found out when a neighbor informed me. Today was a good day for flower viewing. The temperature was warm and the wind was not strong. It was a perfect spring day with beautiful sunshine. But we had to work hard to lay the mulch. It is also an annual event. My daughter sometimes helps me with her little hands. Then she made her own garden and played there. When the time comes, I'll help her create a garden. I stumbled across a site on the internet that did art with mulch. It's interesting to try so many different things with mulch.
Playing fish with flowers. Finally, spring is in full swing. As I drive through the streets, I see yellow-green buds among the dry branches. Now, in a few days, the trees will start to transform in a startling way. As always, spring comes suddenly and passes surprisingly quickly. Tulips planted deep underground last winter have finally bloomed. My daughter, who was waiting for the yellow school bus, was the first finder. As always, it is the children who discover and enjoy the beauty of nature first. Fifty tulips were planted in our front and back yards last year by friendly neighbor Michelle. I never knew what color tulips would come out. Now we can see the color. And in spring, yellow daffodils can be seen everywhere. It is impressive that it bowed its head slightly embarrassed. Every Thursday, I attended the Night Heron, a weekly meeting of artists who love watercolor paintings. I filled a white tumbler with black coffee and sat down at my seat. The weather is so nice that it is a pity to paint indoors. What am I going to draw today? I always worry when dealing with white blank paper. In that case, instead of sensitive mind, close my eyes and breath deeply with concentrating in my mind. If I meditate quietly and focus on my breathing, an image will always come to mind. Grab that image. The images that came to mind today are fish playing in the water while looking at flowers. Just as people enjoy the warm spring breeze by looking at flowers when spring comes, all nature and animals living in it will also enjoy spring. When the pretty pink cherry blossoms fall onto the pond, the fish will probably want to play with them. The eyesight of fish is very poor compared to other animals. A fish's eye has a structure similar to that of a human, but the way it sees and focuses is a little different. The human eye can see by adjusting the distance when looking at an object, but there is a limit to focusing because the thickness of the eye's lens does not change, so the fish eye can be called myopia. According to a scientific research, fish can only distinguish red, yellow, and purple colors. It is said that not only stone bream, but also fish that live in shallow waters, shallows, and beaches where sunlight hits properly, only colors that are close to sunlight, such as red or yellow, can be identified to some extent. The fact that they can see red is impressive though. So I drew a red flower for them. The fish have poor eyesight, so they look a dull red color, but they play with the flower. It is like people who wait for spring and enjoy taking pictures of beautiful flowers when spring comes. This picture needs more rays of light to be added. After completing it, we will continue the next story.
This picture needs more rays of light to be added. After completing it, we will continue the next story. A Different view from Sand Street beach. We want to let drones fly in the sky and see the panorama view and whole world with a higher and wider field of perspectives than our eyes. What would you see without a drone camera? You probably had to take an airplane or helicopter and go up to the sky to take pictures. Sometimes I wonder how the painters of the era where they could not freely change their point of view like this would have imagined and painted. That's why I personally like Marc Chagall's work of dreams. This is because he brought out the dimension of a person flying in the sky from his imagination and realized it with a painting. Sand Street Beach, which I always go to, will look different when viewed from a higher place than I can see. Will the place that seemed lonely from my point of view still feel lonely? With a kind of curiosity and a spirit of experimentation, I tried to draw with a different point of view. From what I've learned, I shouldn't have objects in the center of my composition. But there is only one cottage and nothing like this around here. Except for the cottage. But when I finished painting, I saw that Sandstreet Beach was still lonely and mysterious.
It didn't matter how I changed my perspective. My painting project with 1 dollar watercolor paint in these year. This year, as a personal project, I made plans to paint with 1 dollar watercolor paint. Every day, I leave a picture of the energy I get from my daily life, and I have been posting through those pictures. These collections will be shown at this year's local art festival. Finally, the pandemic is almost over, and I can display and sell my paintings offline. This year's $1 watercolor project started with the message that you can paint anytime, anywhere, regardless of the material. I personally realized something while painting, selling, and exhibiting paintings for 10 years. If I had known this realization before, I might have painted more freely and happily. It is the fact that art, like air or water, is with us without us even realizing it, and we just need to draw out and express the image in our heads and in our minds, whatever the material may be. I regretted that I was not able to enjoy art more freely and happily because of the limitations and many prejudices I had made on my own. Especially as a child, I was no longer interested in art and had to give up. Even though I was full of aspirations and talents to become a painter, and I knew this talent myself. As a child, I was selected for a national competition. It was a great honor to participate in such a contest in such a small town at that time. But I am faced with a great difficulty. That's because to go to a big competition, I had to bring good materials. I told my teacher about this problem because my family was poor and I didn't have enough money to buy good stuff. However, the teacher did not listen carefully to me and eventually called my mother and instructed her to buy good paints. Even in difficult circumstances, my mother bought me new paints, but my teacher told me that it is not enough. And continuously she talked to me, who was practicing hard for the competition. "Painting is a luxury for you. You never went to an art academy, and can't even buy good paints, so I'd rather have another child go out instead of you". And the shocking thing is that she suggested to take my drawing idea and gave it to another child. At that time, there was a perception that doing art is a lot of money and wealth. To have one child only draw, they had to spend more money to send their children to an art school, buy expensive materials, and find a good tutor. Even if they go to art school, they need more money, such as various materials, exhibitions, and tuition. If we can break down these prejudices and stereotypes even a little, we can help poor children to dream of art and make their dreams come true. Despite the negative prejudices of my teachers when I was young, I have been living a life of painting without putting down my brush until now. And the reason I was able to do that was because I believed more in my own inner conviction, not the stupid teacher's words. It has become my pride. And based on this realization, I started a small project. As a result of this, we expect more poor children to dream of art, find happiness in it, and create many happy artists.
