How to Create a Wikidata Profile as an Artist or Author

​What is Wikidata?

Wikidata.org is a structured database operated by the **Wikimedia Foundation**, and is the source from which Wikipedia, Google, libraries, and search engines automatically retrieve information.

​Creating a Wikidata item: Step-by-step instructions
1. Create a Wikidata account (or log in)
Go to https://www.wikidata.org

Click “Create account” in the top right

If you have a Wikipedia account, you can log in with that too

Input your related data like below: 

Click the create button, then please go to add statement. You can see the below box.

Your Entries Are Saved AutomaticallyUnlike many platforms, Wikidata does not have a “Save” or “Publish” button. Instead, all edits are saved automatically as you make them.
Here’s how it works:

• Click “Add statement”
• Type in the property (e.g., P106 for occupation)
• Select or enter the value (e.g., artist)
• Click the small checkmark (✔️) next to the value
  
• Once you click the checkmark, the information is immediately saved to Wikidata.

There’s no final “Submit” button--each statement is stored individually the moment you confirm it.
