​How to change from black and white printing to color printing
Click on the "⋯" (three dots) on the right side of the book in KDP Bookshelf

Click on Edit Paperback Content
→ You can change the printing specifications in this menu

Scroll down to the "Print Options" section

Choose one of the following under Ink and Paper Type:

✅ Standard color interior with white paper
(For general color picture books - reasonable price)

Or
✅ Premium color interior with white paper
(Brighter print quality, higher unit price)

After selection, click Continue or Preview to proceed to the next step

In the last step, click Publish or Save as Draft

Archive an existing book and republish it as a new book

✅ 1. Process the existing book “Archive title”
Click “⋯” on the right side of the book in KDP Bookshelf → Select Archive title

This will hide the existing black and white book and prevent it from being sold

✅ 2. Re-register as a new book (Create Paperback)
Click “Create Paperback” to start a new project

This time, select the “Standard Color Interior with White Paper” or “Premium Color Interior” option

✅ 3. Upload the PDF file in color
The black and white interior file must also be prepared in color and re-uploaded

The cover can also be modified (or used as is)

✅ 4. The title can be slightly modified (but not required)
Example: “The Happy Tree” → “The Happy Tree: Full Color Edition”

The same title is also possible, but a new ISBN will be assigned

​Even if you have a poorly published book, you can always start over by archiving and creating a new one. The first publication doesn’t have to be perfect—publishing is a ‘process’ after all.

​How to check your Archived Titles
​
✅ 1. Go to the KDP homepage
✅ 2. Click “Bookshelf” on the top menu or on the left side of the screen

✅ 3. On the top right of the Bookshelf page or at the top of the list,

Find “Archived Titles” or
“View: Active / Draft / Archived”

Some accounts have a drop-down menu

And some have tabs

👉 Click “Archived” or “Archived”
​
A list of your archived books will be displayed.

​When you restore, it will return to Draft status and you can edit and publish it.
