14th Annual Young Illustrators ChallengeThe Young Illustrator's Challenge (YIC) is a Long Island-wide illustration competition for students, judged by a panel of professional artists, illustrators, and curators. If your kids draw a picture titled “The Great Outdoors,” there are many different ideas inspired by nature and the outdoors. Here are some sample ideas:
Mountain Camping This picture shows a child pitching a tent in the mountains and spending time with a family by the campfire. The background can be blue sky, green trees, and a starry night sky. Playing at the Beach This picture shows a child building a sand castle in the ocean or playing in the waves. The colors of the sand and the beach, the blue sky, and the flow of the ocean are depicted. Walking Animals This picture shows a variety of animals (deer, rabbits, foxes, etc.) walking through the forest. The surrounding area can be lush trees, flowers, and the warm feeling of sunlight shining through the forest. Hiking Family This picture shows a child and family hiking in the mountains or forest. The background is filled with colorful trees, flowers, and small animals, and the children are happily walking. Friends Riding Bikes This is a picture of children riding bikes through a park or along a road. There are flower fields and trees along the road, and the children are smiling while feeling the wind. It can be vividly depicted. These pictures can capture the joyous moments of exploring the beauty of nature and being free from the perspective of children.
