This fall, I am honored to share that my work has been selected for Imagination 25, a juried fine art exhibition at Mills Pond Gallery in Saint James, NY. The exhibition runs from October 11 to November 9, 2025, and invites artists to explore the boundless theme of “imagination.” It is an opportunity for viewers to step away from the everyday world and enter spaces shaped by creativity, dreams, and reflection. My selected piece is a watercolor painting titled “The Mirror of Duality.” The work explores the tension between light and shadow, purity and instinct, the spiritual and the earthly within the human condition. At the center, a winged figure with flowing hair kneels before a mirror. Her angelic wings evoke purity and transcendence, yet her serpent’s tail coils beneath her, embodying primal instincts and hidden shadows. The figure faces her own reflection, a moment that symbolizes the confrontation with one’s inner truth. The background unfolds as a dreamlike landscape of symbols. A fiery bull and delicate blossoms suggest both destruction and renewal, passion and healing. On the right side, I included elements reminiscent of the Altamira cave paintings, ancient markings that remind us of humanity’s earliest attempts to capture life and meaning through art. Below them, small flickering candles illuminate the scene, echoing the role of art as both a guiding light and a source of spiritual warmth. These elements reflect my belief that art is not merely decorative but essential to human existence. From prehistoric caves to contemporary galleries, art has always been a way to confront fear, record memory, inspire wonder, and kindle hope. Just as the cave paintings and candles symbolize survival and spiritual continuity, art today still allows us to dream, to question, and to imagine new possibilities. The fluidity and transparency of watercolor were vital in expressing this vision. Each brushstroke was allowed to bleed and blur, creating layers of ambiguity that invite viewers to project their own interpretations. I hoped to create not just an image, but a kind of psychological mirror—a surface where viewers might recognize fragments of their own duality. Participating in Imagination 25 is deeply meaningful to me. The theme of imagination resonates with my belief that creativity sustains the human spirit, allowing us to see the world not only as it is but also as it could be. Through this exhibition, I hope my work offers viewers a moment of reflection, dialogue, or even the spark of a dream. If you are near Saint James this fall, I invite you to visit Mills Pond Gallery and explore the exhibition. Alongside many talented artists, my painting, The Mirror of Duality, will be on view, waiting to share its story with those who take the time to look closely. My watercolor The Mirror of Duality has been selected for the juried exhibition Imagination 25 at Mills Pond Gallery. A reflection on duality, ancient cave art, and the timeless role of art in human life. The Mirror of Duality: Selected for Imagination 25 at Mills Pond GalleryThe Mirror of Duality is a watercolor that explores the coexistence of light and shadow within the human spirit. The winged figure with a serpent’s tail confronts her reflection, embodying the tension between purity and instinct, aspiration and desire. Surrounding symbols—a fiery bull, blossoms, ancient cave-like markings, and small candles—echo humanity’s timeless use of art to confront fear, preserve memory, and search for meaning. Through watercolor’s fluid ambiguity, I invite viewers to see the work as a psychological mirror, a space where imagination reveals both vulnerability and strength, and where art continues to illuminate our shared humanity.
