Small but Still Mighty: Four Paintings that Celebrate Peace, Light, and Inner StrengthI am delighted to share that I will be participating in the upcoming exhibition “Small but Still Mighty” at Mills Pond Gallery, running from November 16 to December 20, 2025. As the title suggests, this show celebrates artworks that, though small in size, hold great strength, emotion, and meaning. I have always believed that even a small painting can carry a powerful story — and that belief guided the creation of the four pieces I am presenting in this show. The first work is Celebration in Blue (Acrylic, 2025). This piece depicts koi fish swimming gracefully in blue waters — a “festival of koi.” Each fish moves in its own rhythm, yet together they create harmony, balance, and beauty. The blue background suggests peace and serenity, while the vibrant reds, yellows, and whites of the koi symbolize love, joy, and hope. Through this painting, I wanted to express the essence of Christmas — a celebration of peace, unity, and light — in a tranquil underwater world. The second work, Tree of Light (Watercolor, 2022), captures a snow-covered tree stretching upward toward a star-filled night sky. The interplay of blue, green, and white conveys a quiet dialogue between earth and heaven. This piece reflects my admiration for nature’s sacred beauty — its ability to glow even in the midst of darkness. For me, this tree represents the human spirit that continues to seek light and meaning, even in challenging times. The third piece, The First Snow (Watercolor, 2025), is inspired by the tender stillness of the first snowfall. Using the soft transparency of watercolor, I tried to capture that fleeting, almost magical moment when the world falls silent and everything feels new again. This work speaks of renewal, purity, and the quiet joy that accompanies change. The fourth piece, Holiday Reflections (Watercolor, 2025), celebrates warmth, gratitude, and memory. Sparkling ornaments and soft lights evoke the cozy atmosphere of the holiday season, but more importantly, they mirror the reflections of our own hearts — moments of appreciation for the people and experiences that make life meaningful. For me, this exhibition is more than a display of small paintings; it is a reflection of an entire year’s worth of thought, feeling, and quiet perseverance.
Each work embodies my ongoing theme — the visualization of peace — while exploring new directions in color and form. Small but still mighty: that phrase perfectly captures the essence of what I hope to convey through these works. Even in a small frame, there is space for vast emotion, light, and life.
