Ready for PARTy 'til the Cows Come Home!Cows are larger and move slower than other animals. They are not as good at understanding human speech as dogs or cats. However, the image that cows give us is friendly and rich. As one of my new challenges, I applied to an open call for one of the galleries in Northport, 'Firefly artists'. One of my paintings, tree cows, was selected and I finished framing it today. I tried to express this friendly and fun image of cows with watercolors. I created an effect as if a cow was grazing in a field, found a camera, and looked at it with a face full of curiosity. Rather than using watercolors to spread, I used rough watercolor paper to create the shape of a cow by making rough brush strokes. This work gave me a catharsis, like turning calligraphy into a painting. The completed cows are humorous enough to make me smile, which is satisfying. I hope this painting can convey the friendly and lovable image of cows to people. Below are the resumes and statements submitted for the exhibition. Artists apply to the open call, and if their work is selected, they write a resume and statement about the work and submit it along with the framed work. Each exhibition and gallery has different requirements for the maximum size of the artwork they require. However, most of them request wires made using D-rings when hanging artworks. And on the back of the frame, information about the painting should be written as shown below or in another way. It is usually attached to the lower right side of the back. Information includes the artist's name, title, artist contact information or email, and price of the work. If you take the above statement to the gallery, in the case of a group exhibition, the gallery will collect each artist's statement and create a statebook in file format to show to visitors.
In my case, when I prepare to submit my work like this, I feel like a mother helping her child become independent. And when the work sells, I feel grateful and happy that I found a good owner. This is the artist's reward and satisfaction.
