Painting is a communicationPainting is the act of preserving light within paper. Beauty disappears in an instant and emotion remains forever. However, I want to write down and store the touching moments I felt somewhere. So I think the painting was born. When we take a photo and look at it, we feel that many memories come to mind. I also remember that although it clearly contained beautiful scenery, my heart did not feel that way. It was clearly an ordinary field, but I also remember having many beautiful memories there. We have all the memories of what we see. Sometimes we see beautiful moments. At the same time, when we see a beautiful sunset together and our eyes meet, we know that there is no need for more words. I think that painting is what conveys this feeling. Today, I was able to have a video call with my mentor, a friend, and a sculpture that was on display together in Germany. Exactly 11 years have passed since I left Germany. Meanwhile, I was busy adjusting to life in America. Maybe that's why 11 years feel like just yesterday. And for all these years, we communicated through Facebook, email, and Instagram. I still feel grateful to them. They are my wonderful friends and mentors. As time goes by, they are showing me wonderful activities. Someday I would like to record those activities here. Friends who have been with a painting have the same memories of the painting. Even though I sometimes don't remember those friends, their works often come to mind clearly. That is why conversations through pictures leave a very deep impression. I think sometimes there is no need to say anything more. The more you talk, the more twisted and uncomfortable it becomes, and the more conflict arises. Rather, I think it would be better to exchange a small picture. I started another painting. This is a cave painting series attempted on 19 x 20 size 300 gram 100% cotton cold press paper. Because the paper is much thicker, the amount of water needs to be calculated more. So this work took more time.
However, I hope that it will be completed and released to the world soon. I am having fun painting the Cave series. The cave has a lot of space to explore. Because it is not open like the sky and fields, various angles and directions of light are possible, and you can freely spread the wings of your imagination. Additionally, it is not affected by fixed colors or textures. In this cave, I can draw anything I can imagine. Also, if you light a candle in this cave, it is great fun to observe how the candle glows. I will let fish swim here. When we face dark times in our lives, it is said that it feels like passing through a tunnel. And there is a bright light shining at the end of the tunnel, so we encourage them to be patient from time to time. In that sense, I hope that people who see this picture will first see the bright light of life and have hope. One day, we will pass through a long dark tunnel and see a bright light. And art will always be by your side. It will comfort you and keep you from getting tired. When we are immersed in something, we easily forget the difficulties of reality. Finding a space where I can concentrate and a small task that I can focus on is painting.
