Four colored pencils drawings have been accepted for Small but Mighty art exhibition in the Mills Pond Gallery! My recent exploration is colored pencil drawing. And the theme is 'curiosity'. I think 'curiosity' is one of the important things in life. When we lose this in our lives, we suffer from deep despair, helplessness, and depression. So when do we become distant from curiosity? It is when we no longer have interest or love for something. Think about it. When we truly love someone, many questions appear in our hearts. We suddenly become curious about what kind of food our loved one likes, what kind of color they like, what kind of books they read, etc. So we ask a lot of questions. However, when we are no longer curious about something, it is when we lose love. So I assumed that this energy of curiosity is an engine for us to love. And I explored an object that could express this energy of curiosity well. At that time, what caught my eye was a cat. Cats have mysterious, jewel-like eyes that are so clear and splendid that words cannot describe them. All cats in the world, regardless of their style, color, or type, have sparkling eyes. And they look at something with these dazzling eyes. However, it is said that the actual eyesight of cats is about 1/10 of that of humans. They cannot see very close objects and details well, and can see objects that are 60 to 90 cm away best. Perhaps because of this, cats often look at things with a blank stare or stare into space as if they are playful and curious. I find this aspect of cats the most adorable. Cats are famous for being curious animals. Many of us who live with cats easily realize that they have a constant desire to explore and investigate. Cats’ curiosity is fascinating and is an instinctive part of them. I plan to draw as many cats as possible. It is to explore the energy of curiosity that they have. And finally, I submitted a drawing of a frog with its face half out of the water. At the time of submission, there were not enough cats to fill the four images. So I looked for a drawing that would satisfy the word 'curiosity'. Thanks to that, visitors to this show can see my three cats and one frog. Actually, I like watercolor the most. And then acrylics. But recently, I needed to make a reference for colored pencil drawings for my students. For various reasons, I am going to go back to colored pencil drawings and draw cats to my heart's content. I have drawn 8 cats so far and will continue to introduce my cats through my blog.
