Fearless Watercolors by Artist, Jan GuarinoThe watercolor artist I would like to introduce today is a local artist named Jan Guarino. I found her site by chance through my local site. What sets her apart from other art studios is that she created her own studio solely for watercolor. I could feel her love and passion for watercolor from this part. I like her portraits the most. I think she has used the clear and bright qualities of watercolor to create portraits, and has managed to capture the unique beauty and warmth of each person. Most artists feel that this medium is difficult to control and the most challenging to paint with. But I feel the total opposite of this. I long for all of the uniqueness and beauty watercolors have to offer and to leave room for the viewer to fill in what may be missing or nearly suggested. As a fellow local artist, I look forward to personally interviewing her and writing more about her work someday.
I think that the charm of watercolor lies in its challenge and difficulty. Because it is hard to control, it is unpredictable. Because it is unpredictable, you have to trust and leave it to the paint to spread on the water. In some cases, I think that watercolor is a kind of painting with energy. It is like breaking bricks with strong concentration and energy in Taekwondo, controlling the paint with invisible energy. That is why I am attracted to the boldness and coolness of paintings that feel this kind of energy. That is why I think watercolor has so much charm. In this sense, I am very happy to be able to introduce the lives, challenges, and works of wonderful watercolor artists around me on my blog. And as I share their passion and works, I also gain great enlightenment. This is also a very valuable lesson. I am grateful once again for being inspired by her career, which is taking on a wonderful challenge through watercolor.
