This summer, Daniel has begun work on his third picture book, Tommy the Tardigrade.

Daniel enjoys challenging himself. With every new project, he chooses a different theme and pushes himself beyond what he accomplished before. Creating a picture book is never a quick process. It requires drawing the same characters over and over, revising scenes repeatedly, and carefully refining every page. Rather than rushing to finish, Daniel approaches each revision with patience, constantly asking how he can make the story and illustrations stronger.

From Two Books to a Third

Daniel has already published two picture books, and each one represents a new stage in his growth as an author and illustrator.

With every project, his storytelling, composition, and artistic expression have become more refined. Instead of repeating what he has done before, he continues to seek new ideas and new ways to communicate them through his work.
His third book is another step forward in that creative journey.

Daniel begins his third published picture book, Tommy the Tardigrade, using Procreate for the first time while combining scientific research with imaginative storytelling.

Tommy the Tardigrade

The main character of this book is a tardigrade—one of nature's most extraordinary microscopic creatures, known for its remarkable ability to survive extreme environments.

Tommy lives peacefully in a small puddle until an unusually hot day causes the water to disappear.

As his world begins to dry up, Tommy must find a way to survive.
The story is inspired by real scientific research on tardigrades, blending accurate science with imaginative storytelling to introduce young readers to one of the most fascinating animals on Earth.

Exploring a New Creative Tool

One of the biggest changes in this project is Daniel's decision to create the illustrations digitally using Procreate.

Unlike his previous books, which were created using more traditional methods, this project has allowed him to explore digital illustration for the first time. Learning a new medium has brought its own challenges, but it has also opened new possibilities for color, texture, and visual storytelling.

Rather than staying within familiar techniques, Daniel has embraced the opportunity to experiment and expand his artistic skills.

Behind every finished illustration are countless sketches, revisions, and thoughtful decisions. The willingness to redraw, rethink, and improve each page is what transforms an idea into a finished book.

As Daniel continues working on Tommy the Tardigrade, his third publication reflects not only another completed project, but also his curiosity, perseverance, and commitment to growing as both an artist and a storyteller.
