Children Authors’ Picture Books No.2: Miro's Adventure! This summer, I am encouraging students to self-publish their own picture books through the Summer Picture Book Camp. In particular, as an artist, I am planning a series of picture books that children create themselves, with the goal of helping children gain confidence through storytelling and immerse themselves in the world of stories. The first is Rainy Day by 7-year-old Celina Kim. Based on this book, Miro Cheng completed No.2, 'Miro's Adventure', this year. "This story is a delightful and imaginative adventure of Miro, an 8-year-old boy who adores nature. He invents a fantastic tale to cool down the sun, which has been growing hotter due to climate change. His story illustrates the expanding friendship between Miro and happy tree named Tom and emphasizes how a wonderful community can contribute to a joyous life. Most importantly, Miro, who is determined to preserve nature, presents a brilliant solution by creating a virtual space to protect the environment. Through his story, we can explore the deep love children have for nature, their concerns about climate change, and their desire to address this issue from a child's perspective. I hope that Miro's adventure will inspire us to come together and create a festival in a beautiful field that blossoms with the thoughts, imagination, and creativity of an 8-year-old child." "Children Authors’ Picture Books" perfectly captures the essence of children creating and publishing their picture books. Children can create and imagine their own stories. They draw and dream without any restrictions or limitations. Therefore, I believe that children's picture books should be composed of children's own ideas. So, when I write picture books with children, I am surprised by their infinite imagination and creativity and learn a lot. I think that the job of adults is to help these children, who have many possibilities, spread their wings to their fullest. In particular, I find the stories that children create themselves interesting. They are very unique, witty, and have beautiful lessons. In fact, you can see how much children love nature and life and try to protect them more than adults. I plan to continue creating picture books filled with their clear and pure hearts.
