Blogging in the Age of AI: Why Experience Matters More Than Information"With AI replacing search for basic information, the real value in blogging lies in sharing lived experiences. Learn why human stories now matter more than data." These days, when I look for information, I no longer simply type keywords into Google’s search bar. Instead, I now turn on ChatGPT first. This is because it summarizes the information I need in a faster, more organized way.
Google is still useful when I want to know the exact source or check the official position of a certain organization, but I no longer use it the way I used to when I was looking for simple facts. When I first started blogging, I think I focused on “How can I effectively organize information and convey it to people?” However, thinking back now, I realize that what is truly important is not information, but ‘experience.’ In this era where ChatGPT quickly organizes information and facts, what we should post on our blogs is not simple knowledge or summaries, but insights, emotions, and flow of thoughts from our experiences. When I run a blog about art and education, I have written real stories such as what I experienced in the field, how I solved problems, and what students’ reactions were, rather than theories or definitions. And I have shared my experiences and thoughts about my work and exhibitions. I feel that this has become a great asset now. Also, I once wrote an ‘informative article’ about my experience solving a problem on the Weebly platform I use and posted it on my blog. Unexpectedly, many people came to me through searches, and I received comments expressing gratitude for the article. Since the problem I experienced and the solution I used were situations that anyone can experience, sharing my experience as a real case was very powerful. In this way, stories about ‘how I perceived the problem and what process I went through to solve it’ are remembered longer and can resonate with more people than providing information itself. Simple manuals can be found through searches, but the frustration, joy, trial and error, and realization felt during the solution process are content that only people can write. If you are currently running a blog or are thinking of starting one, I would like to recommend switching from an information-centered blog to an experience-centered one. The world is changing, and information is already handled by algorithms. People now want ‘human stories’, and blogs are the best platform to do that
