Preparation for member's showcase! Today, I drew a figure of a girl tying a curtain. This painting will be given as a gift to the main character in the painting who is celebrating her 6th birthday. I'll post a story about this picture later. Today, I would like to briefly show you the process of preparing for the member showcase at the Millspond Gallery. When I had my first exhibition, I didn't even know how to hang a picture. Because I digested and learned painting and the related technique on my own without formally attending an art school, there were a lot of cases where I missed out on small details. Of course, these details are still there, butI am constantly being developed. First you need to make a wire to hang the picture on the frame. Most galleries recommend that you bring a picture with a wire attached as shown below. When attaching a wire, as shown below, (in my case, 3-4 inches high from the top), leave a free space and insert the hook. That way, when the wire is stretched, the line doesn't come out of the frame. On the right side of the back of the painting, write the artist's name, contact information, and information about the work as shown below. This will help curators to recognize and bet on their work. In the case of watercolor, mat covers the hardboard with opening on the picture as shown below. This will protect your watercolor painting. In the case of watercolor, it is drawn with water, but it is weak against moisture. Moisture in the frame can damage the picture. All you have to do is find the size that fits your picture and frame and purchase it as shown below. An artist from the Night Heron Watercolor Artists group shows us how to use a mat.
Attach the picture to the back of the mat with the acid free tape below to keep it from moving.

Two moving fish I am preparing for my first offline group exhibition this year. The year, 2022 has been the time of big and small changes for me personally. First of all, I applied to graduate school. Among them, I received a notification of acceptance from one of the universities. I made my debut as a painter in Germany in 2011, and while drawing and working for over ten years, I had a desire to study and develop further. But because I'm so absorbed in painting, I seem to miss out on opportunities to learn and upgrade formally at school. But not having had the opportunity to learn for a long time become a strength for me. In the meantime, I am able to built up my identity as a painter that could not be build up through academic education. It allowed me to contemplate with serious humility what was art and what was painting. Meanwhile, it can be a trigger for creating my own style. This gave me confidence and helped me a lot in pondering between what art is and the boundary between art and business and finding answers. I will write more about graduate school in a later post. The first step I will tell you right now is that I decided to study after thinking about my style and my drawing to some extent. Of course, studying at this time does not mean entering an art school and learning drawing from scratch. While drawing, I have been thinking deeply what to learn and develop in the future as I build my identity as an artist. What I discovered is that times are changing a lot. Artistic techniques that could only be learned by entering an art college in the past can now be easily obtained just by watching and following youtube. Of course, there are many more things you can get from college. The rich network and the experience of excellent faculty help them to broaden their artistic field. But if what I personally want to get is a technological advancement, maybe watching YouTube would be more helpful. It's an infinitive question I've been pondering over and over, and I'll probably wonder about it for the rest of my life. However, I do know for sure that studying from Basic again will not show the same level of performance as I have so far mastered my skills and created my own identity. Rather, when I go back to the formal art education field, I may waste energy by arguing and persuading people who want to change my style. I just decided to fill in the gaps through graduate school. Before anything else, I think 2022 will be a good year to fill in this shortcoming. In theory, after 10 years of debuting in any field, there is room to get out of a rather narrow perspective and see a general and long-term view of any situation. A lot of things happen in between the painters who have been walking on an unparalleled path for the past ten years. The path in my case was this: At first, like first love, I start with excitement and pure heart. Then I discover that this path requires patience and a long walk. When that happens, I run because I want to walk faster or get there faster than others. And then sometimes I have to go through trial and error. But there is always a great lesson in failure and trial and error. As I learn these lessons and reflect on them, I find that the best solution is to go back to the beginning. The passion comes back. A tired gait becomes lively. With a sincere heart, I pick up the brush again and paint. The painting at this time is not something that arouses awe and admiration from others, but is drawn for oneself. I draw to the extent that I understand and am satisfied with myself. When I draw, I get comfort from pictures. In doing so, I come to understand that painting is not just a skill, a discipline, or a tool, but life itself. I become more humble. And when I get that realization, I find myself no longer impatient. Just as I don't have to say I'm this great in life, I also realize that I don't have to show off that I'm so good at drawing. As I realize that painting is just a window that shows what I want to show, I gradually become more and more free. In this regard, I chose the material with a heart of starting over. That's one dollar watercolor paint. I hope that everyone can easily access paintings, receive comfort and have fun through paintings. Especially, I would like to express myself freely and free from the pressure of most expensive art materials. The subject of drawing is inspiration from everyday life. Therefore, the daily topic changes every day. In this first offline member exhibition, I plan to hang one of them. The work submitted for this group exhibition is two fish. Based on oriental yin and yang theory, I drew the movement of red and blue beta fish. Yin-Yang is the framework of the idea that all things exist based on the understanding of natural phenomena, with the energy of heaven above and the energy of the earth below. Since the shape and basis of all things can be understood as the energy of yin and yang, it was believed that the changing and developing phenomena were also made by the sympathy of the two energies of yin and yang. As the theory that the other two energy are born, grow, and then die through confrontation and sympathy, they have a certain cycle, complement each other, weaken and dominate, and through mutually complementary actions, everything in the universe changes and order is restored. maintain and evolve. My art is expressed based on this theory. In other words, I believe that light does not determine the beauty of an object, but that the energy of the object itself determines its beauty. Therefore, the art I pursue is always to explore these energies. If things are inherently beautiful, it is because of their inner energy and not external factors. Therefore, as long as I capture that energy, I will be able to express the beauty of the object well. Ultimately, if I can express this essential energy, there will be no need for external splendid lights, artificial lights, or dazzling colors. I just need to feel and catch the waves of energy. Personally, I delighted to have two fish created as part of one of these processes on display at the Mills Pond Gallery in my local area.
The exhibition runs from June 4th to July 10th. You can also see the works of other artists on the website below. Artists in the Age of Artificial Intelligence The above picture is a digital picture drawn with a few keywords through a site that draws pictures with artificial intelligence, that is, an artificial intelligence picture generated artwork site. Creation SettingsPreset StyleMatte Text Prompts"dream, cloud, tulip" - weight: 1 "detailed matte painting" - weight: 0.9 Initial ResolutionThumb RuntimeShort Seed598263 The related site, NightCafe Creator is shown by AI about my digital creation as below. The NightCafe Creator has two types such as text to image' video or style transfer. In this way, it is possible to tell the AI what you want to express and turn it into a picture or transform your image into another style. Artificial intelligence is a machine learning algorithm that builds drawing skills by looking at and training many real drawings. The larger the number of drawings used in machine learning, the more similar even the brushstrokes to those drawn by the hands. Recently, AI is replacing a part of human experience and creativity. The Ai technology also expanded the scope to art, which was considered an inviolable realm only for humans. Now, a new wave is blowing in the art world in an era where the works drawn by AI painters are attracting attention. Just as humans learn from seeing, hearing, experiencing, and creating with inspiration from a young age, the day is not far off when AI will show the public a sense of the level of human creativity. Below are pictures drawn by artificial intelligence. Facing this reality makes me anxious as a painter. It's exhausting to think that computers can do more than we do in a situation where we've been drawing and loving for a long time. And recently, even some painters are using AI Creator to get their imaginary picture. However rising popularity of AI art today is similar to the situation when the camera first invented and appeared to the public in the 19th century. With the usage of the camera, it overturned our belief that only painters could reproduce objects as they were in the world. Many people at the time predicted that the artist's skill would never keep up with the skill of photography and would disappear, but it soon proved that the realm of the painter was different from the realm of photography. Therefore, the profession of a painter will not disappear one day suddenly due to the changes and demands of the times. However, as the painting style of painters has changed due to the development of photography technology and painters have built their own art world in their own way as a way of survival, another challenge and ceaseless effort will be required I am also thinking about how to survive in the age of artificial intelligence. The time has come when we have to compete with computers rather than other artists. The AI art market is expected to grow significantly in the future. According to the British media The Telegraph, the AI art market is expected to reach $100 million worldwide within the next three to five years. The marketability of artificial intelligence art will increase more and more. Of course, this environment will surely come as a bigger shock to the painters who have been working with analog methods. Of course, it would be a good direction to utilize the platform of artificial intelligence art through various channels and methods to apply it to art activities and further develop one's own art world. But how many of these artists can freely manipulate and apply these techniques? Even if you look around, there are still many people who look at photos and reinterpret them from an artistic point of view. If so, we may be being pushed by an artificial intelligence painter from the start. But I believe that we are human, our works based on our unique soul, attitude, ethics, and emotions will be different from those drawn by artificial intelligence.
Mother's Day and painting Today is Mother's Day. In the morning my husband made hotcakes for me. Of course, with my favorite black coffee. It's the best gift for me. I always feel grateful to my husband. love this more than any priceless gift. It's a wonderful feeling to share your daily life with each other, to be considerate of the little things of everyday life, to remember what the other person really likes, and then to give a gift that suits them. Today, I studied clouds. Painters are constantly researching ways of expressing objects and techniques every day. It is almost every day that I worry about how to accurately represent an object in a simple, quick and easy way. If you think like this, you can get good results when you actually draw a picture. It's like coming up with a formula to solve a math problem and figuring out how to solve it. Clouds have different feelings depending on the wind, the time, the weather, the presence of the sun and the moon, and so on. The clouds over the sea are rougher and give the impression of a rough oil painting, especially when the wind blows. Of course, you can see clouds even in dreams. Clouds in my dreams are things I can control myself. If you want to see it up close, you can pull it up close up as shown below. It is the most difficult to express the clouds at night. The whole world has gone dark, but the clouds around the moon look beautiful. Sometimes it shines with a brighter light than in broad daylight. I will post the drawing process on the info menu on my website later.
Happy mother's day! Today, I drew variety of roses to prepare for Mother's Day. International Mother's day is celebrated on the second Sunday of May every May. Mother's Day is a celebration honoring the mother of the family or individual, as well as motherhood, maternal bonds, and the influence of mothers in society. It is celebrated on different days in many parts of the world, most commonly in the months of March or May. On Mother's Day, kids get busy. In Each school or academy, children make cards or small books for mom. My daughter has also made a book for her mother like this. My daughter, who has a strong identity, says that black hair is the most beautiful. Mom's hair is also spelled black correctly. I'm not going to dye my hair brown for a while. She also knows me as a coffee mania. Just as I know my daughter loves pink, my daughter loves that I also like blue. To be precise, it is Ultramarine Blue. If my daughter could buy me a present, she wrote that she wanted to buy me a set of paints. My child, who is still learning to write, often misspelts. Like other mothers, I do not push and wait. I know very well that one day she will use it precisely. I'm glad that she knows exactly what I like. I also enjoy sharing a studio with my daughter and painting together. She has always been my good teacher. |
