An Honest Blogger’s Thoughts on Income and Staying True to the JourneySince starting my blog, I’ve come across countless “success stories” and income posts.
Headlines like “I made $1,000 in a day” or “My blog earns $5,000 a month!” are everywhere—enticing, inspiring, and sometimes overwhelming. In the beginning, I wondered if I should follow in those footsteps. But over time, I realized something important: those numbers aren’t my path, and that’s perfectly okay. For me, blogging isn’t just about income. It’s about connection, storytelling, and creating something meaningful. It’s a space where my voice, ideas, and creative journey can meet people who resonate with them. It’s where I document my projects, share my experiences as an educator, and reflect on the intersections of art, learning, and everyday life. If we look at the statistics, blogging income is more rare than it seems. Roughly 70–80% of bloggers earn little to no income, Only about 10% consistently make over $100 a month, And those who earn over $1,000 per month fall into the top 1%. Most of the flashy success stories are either temporary, exaggerated, or used to sell something. That doesn’t make them false—but it does mean we should look at them with perspective. Instead of chasing fast numbers, I’ve chosen to focus on what I can build slowly and sincerely. My blog has become more than a place to post-- It’s now a platform where I share student projects, creative tools I’ve developed, and moments from my art classes. It helps me grow my educational work, showcase my handmade books, and connect with others who value thoughtful, artistic learning. I post regularly, study SEO, and take time to reflect on what I’m sharing. Little by little, I see more people finding my blog, staying longer, and engaging with the content. And that’s the kind of growth I trust. Not sudden spikes, but steady, purpose-driven progress. So if you’re reading this, I want to say: Don’t be discouraged by other people’s big numbers or bold claims. Real blogging takes time. It grows through honest stories, meaningful content, and consistency. That’s the journey I’m on—and it’s one I’m proud to continue.
