A Blog Is Like WaterI still remember the first time I uploaded a post to my blog. I was nervous—so much so that writing a single page felt overwhelming. I would write, delete, rewrite, hesitate. It was a long, uncertain process. Looking back now, I realize why it was so difficult at first: I was taking blogging far too seriously. I thought every post needed to be perfect. I obsessed over every word, every line. I put so much effort into each piece that I even started wishing my blog had more of a bulletin board structure, where posts could be filed and cataloged like static documents. In fact, I once wrote about how to use Weebly's pagination feature—trying to create more of a categorized, structured board for my writing. But now I see that mindset came from a misunderstanding of what a blog truly is. Discover how blogging transforms over time—from perfectionism to creative freedom. In this personal reflection, artist and educator Anna Koh shares how her blog became a flowing journey of self-discovery and growth. Today, things are different.
After four years of consistent blogging, I no longer struggle to fill a page. Once I start writing, my thoughts naturally flow past the bottom of the screen. This is the result of practice—of simply showing up again and again. Now, I see my blog as a stream of water. I stand on that stream and surf. Writing is like surfing waves: each post is a new wave to ride. Just as surfers don’t expect the same wave twice, I don’t try to replicate past posts or chase specific results. Every wave has a different rhythm and shape. I write for the experience of riding it—freely, joyfully, without too much pressure. A blog is a flowing current. It drifts without a fixed destination. Sometimes it loops back on itself, revisits familiar places, or branches off to unexpected territories. But eventually, with time, it reveals its direction. The places I visit often leave traces--deep grooves in the sand. And over time, those paths welcome new waves. This is how a blog quietly builds presence, and even earns Google’s trust. It’s funny: I never tried to “target the algorithm.” But the algorithm began to notice anyway. That’s the beauty of consistency and sincerity. Sometimes, I feel that artificial intelligence and machines recognize authenticity more keenly than people do. It’s a strange, fascinating thought—and it motivates me to keep writing. Through blogging, I’ve come to understand myself more deeply. I’ve grown. Not because I chased metrics, but because I allowed myself to flow. A blog is like water. When we stop resisting and let ourselves move with the current, we eventually discover our own ocean. 📌 Related post: How to create blog pagination in Weebly Comments are closed.
